Stone Stanley Entertainment, the producers of "The Mole," has signed a deal with toy-maker Mattel to develop a new game show around the company's popular Magic 8 Ball.

"The Magic 8 Ball is one of the most recognizable stars of pop culture," says Sharon Levy, Stone Stanley's vice president of development. "We will focus on the fun, whimsical side of the brand, which we believe will translate perfectly into an entertaining game show format."

The show itself has not been developed yet, but producers will have access to use of the well-known toy, plus its spin-offs, the Magic Date Ball and the Magic Love Ball. The Magic 8 Ball was invented by Abe Bookman of the Alabe Crafts Company in Cincinnati in 1946 and acquired by Mattel in 1997.

Aside from ABC's "The Mole," Stone Stanley Entertainment also produces The WB's "Popstars," Comedy Central's "The Man Show;" PAX's "Shop 'til You Drop," and "Legends of the Hidden Temple" for Nickelodeon's Games and Sports. The company was founded by partners David G. Stanley and Scott A. Stone in 1990.
